A Combat-Driven
Progression Challenge
In this challenge you take on the role of a bounty hunter operating on the edge of the galaxy, hunting down pirates and proving your reputation through combat.
Progression is earned through pirate kills, unlocking access to increasingly powerful ship types as your career advances.
The ultimate goal is to become one of the most feared hunters in the galaxy and take down a Sentinel Dreadnought.
Ruleset
| Custom Game Mode: | Permadeath on Extreme Difficulty (All Sliders set to max) |
| Disable Tutorial |
General Restrictions:
| NO Cheating: | No Duping, Glitching or Save Scumming |
| Can NOT follow story lines | (Except for finding Artemis Crashed ship, to unlock access to the Anomaly) |
| Destroying Freighter Cargo or Cargo Pods is prohibited | (Be careful when selecting bounty missions.) |
Starting Conditions:
The Starter Ship is allowed, but it must be exchanged for a Shuttle before leaving the starting planet. You may not leave the system, visit other planets, or visit a space station until a Shuttle is obtained.
Anomaly Access:
- The Space Anomaly is restricted, but limited access is allowed through progression.
- Unlocking some ship types will grant a single visit to the Anomaly.
- You may not use the Quicksilver Companion in any way.
Bounty Hunter Level System:
You progress through the challenge by destroying pirate ships.
New ship types may only be obtained once the required pirate kill count is reached.
| Pirate Kills | Ship Types Unlock |
| 0 | Shuttle |
| 10 | Hauler |
| 20 | Explorer (Single Anomaly Access) |
| 40 | Solar |
| 80 | Exotic |
| 130 | Fighter (Single Anomaly Access) |
| 200 | Interceptor |
| 300 | Corvette (Single Anomaly Access) |
Ship ownership Rules:
- You may only own one ship of each ship type at a time.
- Ship types may only be obtained once the required pirate kill threshold has been reached.
- Upgrading to the next ship type is optional.
Example:
You could continue the entire challenge flying only a Shuttle if you choose—but you are still required to unlock and own each ship class as you progress.
Challenge Completion:
To successfully complete the Bounty Hunter challenge you must:
- Own each ship type (except Living Ships)
- Own a Corvette
- Destroy a Sentinel Dreadnought as the final mission
Excluded Ships:
Living Ships are not included in this challenge due to the Quicksilver and Egg mission requirements.
Notes:
This challenge is designed to add a sense of progression and danger to your gameplay. If you prefer to adjust the difficulty (for example switching from Permadeath to Survival) that is completely acceptable — as long as the spirit of the challenge is maintained. The most important part is to challenge yourself and enjoy the experience.
