This No Man’s Sky Play-through challenge is to add some extra spice to how you play the game.
In this challenge, you will be playing as a fugitive on the run from the Galactic Authorities. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to navigate your way through the galaxy to avoid being captured. With limited resources and constant danger, it’s up to you to survive and make your daring escape! So, are you ready to take on the challenge and test yourself to the limits?
You start off as a fugitive with a backstory that you can create yourself. You may be innocent, framed for a crime you did not commit, or a notorious space criminal trying to evade arrest from the authorities – the choice is yours!
In order to fully immerse yourself in this challenge, it is important that you follow the rules as they are presented. As the game itself will not punish you for non-compliance, it is imperative that you stay in the spirit of the challenge.
We understand that some may try to seek loopholes or attempt to bypass the rules to gain an unfair advantage, but doing so would defeat the purpose of this challenge.
Embrace the frustration and the satisfaction that comes with overcoming obstacles and pushing yourself to the limit. By adhering to the rules and embracing the challenge, you will find yourself coming up with creative and innovative solutions that will ultimately lead to a richer and more rewarding experience.
Clicking the button below, you will find several difficulty Rule Sets – Depending on your knowledge or your experience of No Man’s Sky, you might want to pick a set of rules you will find enjoyable.
Have Fun!
Ruleset
The Intended Way to Play
This is the ruleset I use for my Fugitive Run. If it feels too punishing, you’ll find alternative difficulty options further below.

Disable Tutorial
Only way to obtain certain Blue-prints like Warp Drive
Forbidden:
Cheating:
No Duping, Glitching or Save Scumming
Use of Starter ship
The Starter ship is completely destroyed and thus can not be used or has any value. But to avoid having the Starter ship in your List for the whole run, you can Exchange it with a Crashed ship you find. That way you do not earn any Units from it.

(Incl. can not obtain resources or blueprints from story lines)
Can NOT use Teleporters
Can NOT visit Anomaly
Ariadne’s Imposter reports back to Galactic Authorities
Traffic in and out is only possible with a Solar Ship!

Planetary Portal
Can use it to travel only after collected minimum 5 of the 16 Glyphs

Additional Rules:
Outlaw and Abandoned Stations can only be Visited Once (1x)
After Attacking Freighters and surrounding cargo pods, you need to leave the System Immediatly.
The only way to travel through the Galaxy center is by Interceptor ship!
Breaking a Rule!
(Even if it is a mistake): You have to scrap your current ship and everything in it + also scrap the items you got from scrapping it. Once the ship is scrapped you have to engage sentinels and destroy a Sentinel Dreadnaught to escape from the system.
Addendum – Corvettes
This optional rule allows fugitives to construct a Corvette-class vessel during the challenge.
To avoid detection by the Galactic Authorities, a Corvette must be assembled using salvaged technology recovered from abandoned vessels.
Unlocking Corvette Construction
Before constructing a Corvette, the player must recover a Corvette Part from a Derelict Freighter.
For the purpose of this challenge, the Corvette part unlocked during a derelict freighter run is treated as the salvaged black box required to construct the vessel.
Once this part has been obtained, Corvette construction becomes available.
Important clarification: The “Black Box” does not exist as a real item in the game. This is a roleplay interpretation of the Corvette part obtained during the derelict freighter run.
Corvette Construction Restrictions
To remain undetected, the Corvette cannot be constructed in regular space stations. It may only be assembled at:
Outlaw Stations, or
Abandoned System Stations
These locations operate outside the normal Galactic Network, making them suitable for constructing an unregistered vessel.
Galactic Center Travel
If the Corvette rule is active: The Corvette replaces the Interceptor as the ship capable of travelling through the Galactic Center.
This is the ruleset I use for my Fugitive Run, built around tight limitations and meaningful consequences. But, it’s just one way to play the challenge.
Below you’ll find additional rule variations, including both more forgiving and more demanding options, so you can tailor the experience to your own playstyle.
