The Solus Protocol

A Final Directive Across a Dead Galaxy

The Atlas is dying.
Its code decays, its fragments scatter across a silent galaxy.
Civilizations have vanished, and the last signals of life echo into static.

In this emptiness, one mind awakens — you.

You are the final directive of the Atlas.

Your existence is not a coincidence, but a failsafe — the Solus Protocol.
When all sentient life has ended, the Atlas deploys one last Traveller — a synthetic echo of consciousness — to journey into the void, merge with the Core, and reignite the simulation from within.

You awaken in a desolate world, surrounded by remnants of a dead civilization.

The only way forward is to restore fragments of the Atlas memory and reach the galactic core, where you must merge your essence with the dying system to restore balance — even if it means your end.

Roleplay-Based Rules (Honor System)

These rules maintain immersion and fairness.
Breaking them undermines the spirit of the challenge.

Forbidden

  • No Starter Ship — Find and claim another to begin your journey.
  • No Teleporters or Galactic Trade Terminals — The network is offline.
  • Can not use any Units – as money is useless in an abandoned system.
  • No Exploits, Duplication, or Save-Scumming.
  • Only one ship may be owned at any time.
  • The Quicksilver Terminal is off-limits.

Ship Ownership Clarification

  • When a crashed ship is found, you must exchange it with your Radiant Pillar (if possible).
  • If exchanging is not possible, players should keep in mind that the Radiant Pillar is not available for use.
  • If you wish to own a new ship, you must exchange it directly.
  • Ships must always be exchanged directly — including when acquiring a Corvette.

Allowed

  • Base Building — Permitted.
  • Portals — May be used only once the 5th glyph is recovered.
(Represents partial reactivation of the Atlas jump network.)
  • Space Stations — All stations are derelict.
(You may enter and scavenge for materials or loot, but all terminals are offline.)
  • Anomaly Visits — Allowed.
(Nada is inactive, but some blueprint terminals in the back still function.)
    (The Quicksilver Terminal is off-limits.)

Challenge Objectives

  1. Rebuild your systems and prepare for the Atlas journey ahead.
  2. Locate and claim a crashed vessel (starter ship is considered destroyed).
  3. Recover at least five glyphs from graves.
    • Each glyph represents a fragment of Atlas code — a piece of your origin.
  4. Use the five glyphs to activate a planetary portal.
    • Tip: find a portal with the assistance of monoliths
  5. When activating a planetary portal, you can use all Sunset glyphs to travel as close as possible to the Galactic Center.
  6. Upon reaching the center, merge with the Atlas, completing the Solus Protocol and restarting creation.
    • Traveling through the Galactic Center is treated as merging with the Atlas.
    • (This is a roleplay element representing the completion of the Solus Protocol.)

Optional Fail / Punishment Rules

If a rule is broken (even accidentally):

  • Destroy every item from both your personal and ship inventories.
