The Stranded

Stranded on a Distant World

You wake up marooned on an unfamiliar planet, with no recollection of how you arrived. Your only goal: return to your homeworld. The sole viable means of escape lies in finding and activating a planetary portal.

As a Level 6 engineer, you’re experienced with Exocraft and Multitool technologies. However, your knowledge is incomplete—you lack the skills for Exomech and Spaceship engineering.

Though you have basic spaceship piloting experience, you lack an official pilot’s license, making it impossible to legally own or repair spacecraft. Your only alternative is forging a pilot’s license.

Recipes and Blueprints:All Unlocked (see note below)
Tutorial Missions:Disabled

General Restrictions:

NO Cheating:No Duping, Glitching or Save Scumming
Can NOT follow story lines
Starter ship is not permitted.Pretend it doesn’t exist.
Challenge is confined strictly to the starting planetYou cannot leave by conventional space travel.

(Note: To build a Roamer Exocraft, all blueprints must be unlocked via custom game settings. This rules out Permadeath mode, making Extreme Survival the highest available difficulty.)

Challenge Objectives:

  1. Construct an Exocraft
    • Build and use an Exocraft to explore and survive on your stranded planet.
  2. Find a Planetary Portal
    • Locate a planetary portal, your only means of escaping the planet.
  3. Obtain a Ship (Optional but Recommended)
    • While not mandatory, acquiring a ship is highly recommended due to potentially large distances to the portal.
    • Before purchasing a ship, you must forge a pilot’s license.

    How to Forge a License?

    • Find and claim a crashed ship.
      • Use the deceased pilot’s credentials to forge your own pilot’s license.
      • The type of crashed ship determines the class of spaceship you may buy later.
      • You may search for additional crashed ships if unsatisfied with the initial class found (e.g., to avoid expensive Haulers).

    NOTE:
Forging a license is a self-imposed rule used for this challenge and not an in-game mechanic. It’s a roleplay element designed to add structure and progression, tying your access to ships to what you can realistically “claim” from the world.

    Portal Activation and Escape

    • After forging your license and obtaining your spaceship, fly to the portal.
    • Activate the portal to return to your homeworld, completing the challenge.

    Additional Rules:

    • Single Base Limitation: Only one Base Computer may be built on the planet at any time. It can be dismantled and relocated, but you may never have more than one.
    • Exocraft Recall Restriction: You may not remotely recall your Exocraft unless entirely stuck or bugged out. (If stuck in a cave, dig yourself out first.)
    • Claiming a Ship: You must claim a crashed ship to forge your pilot’s license.
    • Minotaur Ban: The Minotaur Exocraft is prohibited as it undermines the challenge’s core exploration and survival aspects.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

    • Trade Rockets: Building and using trade rockets is permitted.
    • Trading Ships: You may use the crashed ship you claimed (with the forged license) as a trade-in when purchasing your ship.
    • Other Exocrafts: While initially designed for the Roamer, other Exocrafts are permitted (except the Minotaur).
    • Exocraft Pads: Rebuilding Exocraft pads to recover your vehicle from difficult positions (e.g., caves) is treated as recalling and is prohibited.
    • Multiple Exocrafts: For increased challenge, sticking to one Exocraft is recommended. However, if you choose to build a new Exocraft, your previous one becomes permanently lost, as recalling is disallowed.
