CHALLENGE SETUP

Ruleset

Use these settings to start the challenge. If additional rulesets are added later, they will be selectable here.

Standard

Game setup: Extreme Survival, maximum difficulty sliders

  • Death consequences: Items Destroyed.
  • Recipes and blueprints: All Unlocked.
  • Tutorial missions: Disabled.
  • Roamer construction is available from the start.

The Premise

You wake up marooned on an unfamiliar planet with no memory of how you arrived. Your only goal is to return to your homeworld, but conventional space travel is not an option. The only viable route off the planet is a Planetary Portal.

You roleplay as a Level 6 engineer with experience in Exocraft and Multi-Tool technology, but without the knowledge required for Exomech or spaceship engineering. You know how to pilot a ship, but do not have a legal pilot license.

Honor System Rules

This challenge relies on roleplay and self-enforcement. The game will not enforce every restriction, so stay within the intended single-planet survival rules.

Forbidden

  • No duplication, glitching, save-scumming or other cheating.
  • No story progression.
  • The starter ship is not permitted. Treat it as if it does not exist.
  • Do not leave the starting planet until you escape through the Planetary Portal.
  • No Minotaur.
  • Remote Exocraft recall is forbidden unless the vehicle is genuinely stuck or bugged.
  • Do not rebuild an Exocraft pad purely to recover a distant or trapped vehicle.

Allowed

  • Trade Rockets may be used.
  • Exocraft other than the Minotaur may be used.
  • A crashed ship may be claimed as part of forging a pilot license.
  • The ship used to forge the license may later be traded in.
  • A second Exocraft may be built, but the previous vehicle is considered permanently lost if it cannot be recovered physically.

Clarifications

  • Only one Base Computer may exist on the planet at a time. It may be dismantled and relocated.
  • If an Exocraft is trapped in a cave, try digging it out before using the stuck or bugged exception.
  • The forged pilot license is a roleplay mechanic, not an in-game system.

Objectives

  1. Construct an Exocraft. Build and use it to explore and survive on the planet.
  2. Find a Planetary Portal. This is your only valid escape route.
  3. Obtain a ship, optional but recommended. Large distances may make a ship useful, but you first need to forge a pilot license.
  4. Activate the portal and escape. Reaching your homeworld through the portal completes the challenge.

Rule Breaking

The Stranded does not define an additional punishment system. If a rule is broken accidentally, correct the situation as soon as practical and return the run to a valid state.

Forging a Pilot License

  • Find and claim a crashed ship.
  • Roleplay that you use the deceased pilot’s credentials to forge your own license.
  • The crashed ship type determines which class of ship you are allowed to purchase later.
  • You may continue searching for another crashed ship if the first class is undesirable, for example an expensive Hauler.
